Epidural Injections – are the preferred treatment for radicular pain, which is pain that emanates from irritated nerve roots, usually as a result of acute or sub acute disc herniation. Basically via a small needle a dose of steroid medication and local anesthetic is placed close to the irritated nerve in order to decrease inflammation. This procedure can be performed at any spinal level. It may not be performed on patients who are on anticoagulants or aspirin or who have infections.
