Spinal Cord Stimulators are small fiber-like electrodes that are implanted along the epidural space in either the thoracic or cervical areas in order to treat nerve-related, vascular, or post laminectomy pain syndromes. This is a two-stage process in which the first electrode is placed temporarily and if this relieves the pain in a fashion acceptable to the patient, the electrode is in a second procedure, implanted permanently.
